The South Korean giant Samsung have planned to start production of flexible displays in the first half of next year, it would be components of type AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) whose concept was submitted in a video in 2011.
The project involves the use of plastic material instead of glass for the realization of the display that can be folded without causing any damage to their structure; thanks to them will be also possible to build mobile devices much lighter than those currently on the market.
Samsung is not the only company working to launch the production of this particular type of screens, LG and Sony also WOULD BE creating similar prototypes _ being first in the distribution of flexible displays will be crucial to gain a market share as large as possible.
Should also be noted that the first group to file a patent in in this respect should have been to serve Tim Cook and Co., it would not be outlandish the hypothesis about the future opening of a new front of Patent War between Apple and Samsung.
